This thing hits so cleanly; I’ve very impressed. I can’t state this enough. It hits very nicely. I fill its water chamber enough to cover the slits in the percolator but not enough to cover the entirety of the green accent inside the chamber. You do not need to pull hard at all.
I’ve owned a number of Sherlock bubblers over the years, currently enjoy a Diamond Glass 14” bong for special occasions, and have hit many sidecars and the Grav Labs line of hammers. This gavel is easily the best water-hitting piece I’ve ever had the pleasure of using save for the DG bong filled with ice water in both chambers, crushed ice throughout the catch and the whole piece having sat in the freezer for awhile.
Another reviewer mentions that theirs broke easily, but a lot of pieces will break if dropped a few inches above a sink. The gavel’s glass isn’t as thick as a Diamond Glass bong, so caution is worth exercising when using the piece. When held to one’s face, the bowl is a little less than a lighter’s length away from one’s nose, which could intimidate new users. But, new experiences users will likely find this helpful in precisely lighting their bowls (quartering).
The gold lettering that reads “Diamond Glass” either began to rub off after one use or was shipped as such—not horrible, and not a deal breaker, but worth noting about a designer piece.
The piece’s pictures would lead one to believe that its jade and slyme green varieties are a bit fatter and wider than its clear counterpart; I purchased the jade version, and my anecdotal observations and comparison’s confirm my perspective.
Dankstop’s customer service is absolutely stellar. I can’t talk them up enough!
